How Does It Work

For your very first talk we recommend that you give yourself 2 – 3 hours to feel comfortable with the content. The amount of time needed to practice will dramatically decrease as your confidence increases and you become more familiar with the system and process.

Each talk is roughly 10  minutes long but depending on the level of engagement of your teams could take about 20 minutes to deliver.

Step 1: Selecting Your Talk
i) Browse the Talks or the listed Campaigns and find one that really resonates with you and your team/business.
ii) Talks include slide decks that focus on a specific message that you need to cover with your team.
iii) Campaigns are a series of talks that should be delivered in a particular order over a few weeks.

Step 2: Time to Practice
i) First watch the coaching video to learn more about the talk and see how it’s done. You may need to watch it more than once before you feel comfortable enough to give it a go.
ii) Click START PRESENTING, this will launch the slide deck in a new tab and trigger the mobile clicker link email to you.
iii) Open the mobile clicker link on your mobile phone.
iv) Practice the talk using the suggested narrative you learnt in the coaching video. It is important to add your own flair, comments and style to truly make it your own.
v) Make note of when you click from one slide to the next, ensuring your timing works well when you segue from one slide to the next.

Step 3: Add Your Team
i) This is an important step as you want to make sure that your team receives the post talk surveys that TalkDrawer triggers to them.
ii) Go to MY ACCOUNT > TEAM > ADD NEW MEMBER
iii) You will need to add a first name, surname and email address for each team member you wish to add.

Step 4: Presenting to Your Team
i) Connect your laptop to an external screen (like a projector or TV monitor), making sure it is an external screen and NOT a mirrored display.
ii) In your preferred internet browser, go to your desired talk and click START PRESENTING. This will launch the slide deck in a new tab and trigger the mobile clicker link email to you.
iii) Move the MAIN window with the full slide image across your screen so that it shows on your external projector or TV screen.
iv) Open the mobile clicker link on your mobile phone. You are now ready to go!

TalkDrawer is an online platform and as such needs a decent internet connection in order to load the images for the talk slides on both your mobile phone, for the clicker, and your computer. If your download bandwidth is very slow these images may be slow to come through.

The “TalkDrawer Mobile Clicker” email will usually come through within a few seconds of being triggered but is at the mercy of your and our mail servers. If it has not come through after 5 minutes please email justin@talkdrawer.com for support.

Not My Content

Stop right there, that is not the case at all so no need to feel that way! As you will have seen from the way the talks have been written it is certainly the intention for the speaker to own the content. Even though these talks are pre-written there is still plenty of opportunity to make them your own and very relevant to your team while delivering them. Whether you stand up in front of your team and use TalkDrawer to share some learnings or you share a summary of a book you just read, it is in essence the same thing. We have just packaged it and made it easier for you to do.

Pop-Up Blocker

TalkDrawer works online only, using pop-up windows for the talk slides. So before you start talking to your team you’ll need to get your computer ready for presentation mode. In your favourite internet browser, you’ll need to add https://www.remax.talkdrawer.com to your “Allowed” list.

Slide Decks

You have two options here:

  1. The Mobile Clicker is the suggested solution. A unique link is emailed to you each time you click on START PRESENTING when the mobile clicker option is selected (the default). This link is valid for only that particular session and will not work if there are multiple presentations open in multiple tabs or browsers. The mobile clicker allows you to move your slides forwards and backwards as well as see your next slide in order to keep you on track.
  2. The Desktop Clicker is also an option that can be used to control your slide transitions directly from your computer. This link is valid for only that particular session and will not work if there are multiple presentations open in multiple tabs or browsers.
  3. The desktop clicker allows you to move your slides forwards and backwards as well as see your next slide in order to keep you on track.

This could be for one of two reasons.

  1. You have not yet added any names and email addresses under the TEAM section.
  2. You are not ticking the YES box when being asked whether you want to poll your team after a talk.
Category: Survey Feedback

This would only happen if you did not complete and submit the survey form after the talk.
